Anathema

Anathema 667: When Satan spat on Asmodeus, many small minded farts on bred who pretended to be shits on toast applauded for the angry master of evil lost his mind. Dear Satan! Please! Never remember spittle is not spunk.

An afternoon I spent some time with “teuffers” punks and their dogs. I didn’t know them. I needed company. They were begging. I sat and drew one of them (he must still have my “portrait”; he was pleased because I drew his spike). Ahahaha! That was funny he almost had a fight with a proud Arabic friend of his friend because he didn’t want to apologise for… gosh! I don’t remember! It was just so much fuss over a trifle (he argued that he was a scumbag and that he had suffered for whatever and that he just didn’t give a fly fuck about having all the Arabs of the town coming to break his mouth). Later he said to me Mammon was Satan’s son but I never found anything related to it in literature.

GAïn.

I'm a huge fan of those old demon portraits from the Ars Goetia. I did a brief series of paintings where I adapted many of my own a few years back. I have a big "to do" list but one of the things on that list is to revisit those descriptions of 72 demons of the Ars Goetia and make full color paintings that hopefully do them justice.

Cioran wrote (I think it was in « A Short History of Decay”) that we have always known everything, we, modern, have concepts but the symbols had the same purpose… All this “middle age mythology” is full of crazy inspiration. It may be interesting some day to make a book with both visual arts and creative writing (entreaty, creed, dark puns, emphasis, rants, syllogisms…) putting in scene all those beasts… Aeron, you can send me an e-mail if you want and we can talk about that (it should be a long term project, in order to let us time to work on our personal wanderings at the same time).
